09/16/09 Meeting with Laura
This was our first talk of the project as being a teammate of each other.
There were many topics to think about. Form, system, variations of program, and light has to be all considered when doing the projects but it seemed that there is not a single matter to focus on yet.
Therefore, since the project is still quite open to start, the first thing we decided to was to do some research for schools and figure out 10 important points of building as a school. Based on those points we might be able to set up specific time of the day and seasons which works best for the school.
So for example, if it is essential for kindergarten children to take a nap from 1 to 2 p.m after eating lunch, that would be a remarkable period to consider in terms of light. (for we have to design a space which can be the best place for take a nap, probably with almost no lights)
In addition, we thought it would also be better to clarify the program a bit more. From the word
"class" to lecture hall and studio, or from "support" to "facilities and maintanance room"
What I would do by myself is that I have to figure out the school system in U.S, and the activities going on in each grades. By studying and arranging those activities I think we can setup the best system of managning lights in school (just as each plant has its own best system for itself.)

Sounds like a great conversation but be careful to not be sidetracked by issues beyond the short assignment. When we go to Chicago we will try and visit a school. For now try and work with the light/dark issues of the site.
